Brisbane River City Runners at the Six Foot Track Marathon
.gif)
When is the race on, and where?
Saturday 12th March 2011.
In the Blue Mountains, about a 2hr drive west of Sydney, Australia.
The race is over 45km of very steep, unmade trails.
The finish time for the 'Average Runner' is about 50% slower than for a normal 42.195km road marathon.(Consider yourself warned).
The official race webpage is:
www.sixfoot.com
Entry Criteria:
Please read this carefully, because the race quota will be met, and there will be no 'I know Digger' entry's anymore.
The criteria can be found by clicking here.
How to enter:
This has changed, and entry's open online, at 1min past Midnight(ESST), at a date to be announced.
What are the logistics?
The logistics are VERY VERY complicated.
Our minibus will leave Sydney Domestic Airport, no later than 11AM, on Friday 11th March 2011.
If you want to use our bus, then you must be there before 11AM, ready to go. If your planes late, TOUGH, there are trains to the Blue Mountains.
The bus will return to Sydney Domestic Airport on Sunday 13th March 2011, in time to catch a 2PM plane, No Earlier.
It is your responsibility to book and pay for your air tickets, which fit the above criteria.
We don't know the cost of the bus yet, but it may cost up to $75-00/person.
Where do we stay?
We are planning to stay in Katoomba, rather than Blackheath as we have done in the past, and will post the details when available.
What happens on race day?
The race starts at 8AM at the 'Explorers Tree' about 3km from Katoomba.
The race finishes at Jenolan Caves, and after the official part of the afternoon(generally about 3-30PM), we will make the trip back to Katoomba(75km), arriving at about 5-30PM.
We haven't decided whether to use our own bus for this trip, or whether to use race transport, as this will depend whether we have a non-runner to drive our bus to Jenolan Caves to pick us up
Where do we eat?
On the Friday night we generally go to aBlackheath local Club for Dinner, and on the Saturday night we go to one of the local Restaurants for dinner.(6PM on each night).
What if I want to join in with the RCR group?
Let Bruce know, and book your own airtickets etc.
If you want to stay at a Motel, then book this yourself, and just use our bus etc.
