Its best explained on the official webpage, which can be found by clicking here
But if basically involves, drinking a beer, running 400metres(440yards), drinking another beer, running again, until you have drank 4 beers, and run 1 Mile(1609metres)
Here is the video of the 2006 event:
So why do we do it?
Well,
when we started, it seemed like the thing to do to celebrate Australia's National Day(Australia Day, is the 26th of January every year)
That is, to drink too much beer, till you are sick.
Note: Australians(Of Anglo-Saxon stock) celebrate Australia Day, which is the day the 1st Fleet arrived in 1788.
Indigenous Australia call it 'Invasion Day'
And those who were born elsewhere, but now call Australia home generally embrace the day, which is a "day of celebration of all things Australian."
So what happens?
When we originally planned it, it was to be a boozy day for those of us who liked drinking too much, but over the years it has 'morphed'.
It is now a 'Family Fun Day', where such games as;
-Potato Races-Sack Races-Egg and Spoon Races
are played.
Just look at the photo's below!(They all appear to be having FUN!!)
There arn't too many drunks to be seen.
What about the Ice-creams and Coke?
This is part of the 'Metamorphism' of this event.
Those who weren't into beer, but could see what fun we were having, decided to use the same format, but use either Coke or 'Magnum' ice creams.
And for those not into total gluttony, they actually do it in a relay format.
So when(and where) does it happen?
The Australia Day week-end Holiday, so please email us in early January if you want to find out more.
